In the wake of her heavily-protected flight to the summit conference at the Zatan siege camp, the Chancellor once again took her exceptionally well-defended mode of transport for an outing – this time to Leon, for a meeting with Count Renaud de Moley. Baroness Olivia Decados is rumoured to have also been present for the discussions.

Upon departure from Leon, the Countess's flight is said to have gone in the direction of the Vale....

The Angry Giant Mar 02 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumours have been spreading through the Copper District and down into the slums of Akko of the truth about the self-proclaimed 'Champion of the People' Sir Vasily Eisenstein. He was seen in Canon's Hall shoving a female member of the Supreme Order barely half his size from her seat and sending her falling, bloody-mouthed, to the floor, proclaiming loudly about how he was the Emperor's Emissary and that they all knew nothing, and should stick to their work and let their betters decide what should be done, as only those betters truly understand. Seems that this is the regard that the angry giant truly has for the 'folk of Akko'. Tools to break and use. He's no different than Sir William.

Copper District Mar 03 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are young knights in the streets in the Copper District, stirred up by Sir Joscelin de Moley - and indeed, the District is now largely impassable to Swords of Lextius; when they enter, they are almost immediately engaged by knights and guilders who drive them from the area. In truth, this chaos is spreading throughout the Foregate, so that Swords and Crusaders heading from the Cathedral Quarter to the Old City now must travel in force.
In response, of course, the Swords are moving in force - and they are not hesitating to use that force when required. So far, no one has died, but several Crusaders as well as those resisting them have been shot or stabbed. With the Brother Battle seeming to side against the Swords of Lextius, others among the traditional residents of the city are speaking out, too - many of the old merchants of Akko seem to be sheltering and supporting those opposed to Sir William.

The Great Storm Moves Mar 03 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sandstorm that has been blowing through Auberry still marches inexorably west; the worst of it is now passing Haqq, and the River of Joy is clogged with sand. Sandstorms do not reach this far from the Pass of Arrows, and the lamprey-fishers in the river have to take shelter as the marshes roil from the winds and the soldiers who guard the Keep of Joy must duck their heads against the sands. The storm is building, now, as its forward edges touch the arid plains west of the fens, sweeping towards Jopha, Alivere, and Ghilat.

Dry Throats at the Seashore Mar 03 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the successful operation to sabotage the Zatan water pumping facility prior to the closing-in of the siege, reports are starting to filter out of the besieged city that the effects are starting to bite. With the increased population from the massively increased garrison, firmly-controlled water rationing has had to be instituted and the effects on morale are beginning to take hold, particularly in opening the divide between the city's normal residents and citizens, and the soldiery and out-of-town commanders.

Midnight Landing Mar 03 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the crescent moon rises over the Wild Coast there are few on shore to see the Kurgan fleet in the pale light. Those few that are out preparing to fish for squid off of the coast find themselves quickly taken prisoner by camouflaged Kurgan infiltrators. None who pray to the Pancreator and his Prophet were free to see the Kurgan Janissaries, glittering in their brass cuirasses. Nor were any who pray to the Saints and Disciples of the Universal Church aware of the monstrous men, made through the twisted genetic manipulations of the unpious, who lumber onto the shore carrying great cannons in their mammoth hands. Unobserved by the righteous and true was the arrival of hundreds of light horsemen and their steeds, men bedecked in power armor or carrying with them the relic weapons of a forgotten age.
But by morning the army has begun to arrange itself a mere thirty miles from Teldam. To the shock and horror of the local baronets the Kurgans have landed, and soon the march of some two thousand men will begin. Supported by the fleet that waits just off shore, this army has one clear intent- to take Teldam from the Godly and claim it for the Heathen.

Though her stay in Olivet was briefer than might have been expected, it seems that the Chancellor has been busy both before and after that visit – with rumours of messages spreading out to lords and ladies in quarters in which her flight of ships remained unseen.

Then the Kurgans landed, unwontedly close to Teldam and in unusual strength – and the flight of vessels was seen skimming South towards Johburg once more, at considerable speed....

The Chevaliers of Leon Mar 04 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This cavalry unit of Leon saw heavy fighting in and around Zatan and is being rotated out of the front for fresher Leon units. Composed as it is almost exclusively of knights, it is a powerful force on foot or ahorse. Word is they may be heading for Woosley Hall or Jaffrey Hall to take a fall camp. Some say they may return to some of the suburban manor houses of the DeMoley, to take their rest and relaxation in Akko itself.

And it requires examination.

Once more there are strange sounds emanating from the Maggie May. The mechanics on the tarmac begin to wonder what the hell is going on over there. Just when a few of them get close enough to hear, they stop, laugh and turn away. Whispers begin to circulate and the chatter seems to be that the strange sounds from last time, were probably the same sounds they heard today.

Prisoner Exchange in Revelation Mar 04 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A flight of Leonese fighters moved over Revelation today, escorting a score of flitters. Landing in the Basillica Square - they were not fired upon. Joined swiftly by a matching number of Kurgan flitters, a prisoner exchange took place, in which Sulieman Dey, The King Of War and Lord of Suliemanbad was exchanged for a number of Known World Prisoners. Very little of substance took place beyond men walking each direction and some glares - but the peace was kept during the exchange.

In strength and doing absolutely /nothing/ wrong, these men of the Lion seem to be loitering. A lot. Some money is spent, but mostly they seem to be staking out territory and making it clear... these merchants are under their protection.

The Napkin Duel Mar 05 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Late in the evening after much drinking it is said that a duelist some called The Dancing Zephyr, or was it the edged artist, with the help of a reeve whom apparently appeared out of the night helped pen a contract to set up a duel with the Lady Momoko.
The exact terms of the contract were allegedly quite lofty a three touch duel with some high grand prize, or vulgarity everyone close to the acting reeve and duelist were too smashed to comment.
However it was witnessed that the reeve signed and so did the duelist, after which there was a struggle between them and then after much yelling a runner picked up the cocktail napkin contract, what does it mean? Well if it's true and the contract reaches its destination and is taken seriously upon signature it becomes binding, but what the hell does it say? And better yet who is this Reeve?

Johburg on the Move Mar 05 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As might be expected, Johburg has responded to the Kurgan invasion. The most visible and dramatic movement has come from the County's aerial forces, with the starfighters escorting multiple dropships in shuttle runs to and fro across the South. Within hours of first reports of the Kurgan arrival, hundreds of additional infantry had reinforced the existing County garrison at Teldam, while the barony's own troops assembled to oppose the enemy.

It seems that the Countess is calling up forces equivalent to a third of her vassals' armsmen, with two notable exceptions. Teldam is exempted from the centrally-organised levy, with its own forces already scrambling to assemble to repel the invaders. For somewhat different reasons, Crow's Landing's corpse-strewn settlements are not being called upon to provide forces for the front.

Noteworthy additions to the County's forces have already come from further North, however, with at least three aerial squadrons from the County of Leon and the Barony of Arvin already reinforcing Johburg's air power, and rumours of ground troops coming from multiple directions.

Leon tightens patrols... SOURCES S Mar 05 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Navy of Leon has pulled back patrols in the Shining Gulf, sources close to people who count ships say. Tightening their patrols and using a more closely meshed grid pattern, Leon is able to cover the same rough area with fewer ships - though with some added risk, if you can believe that loudmouthed pirate over there. Still, it is letting Leon shift ships to the south to assist in cutting off the Kurgan landing force from their supply line, or so it's been whispered.

The West Goat district might be not synonymous with exciting night life but things seem to be picking up the pace, at least where the manor home of one Reeves' member is concerned. "Decadent," "indulgent," and "exotic" are some of the words used to describe the fetes being hosted there on a regular basis. Some report small intimate dinner parties, others talk of larger-scale affairs. Live music and dancing are commonly mentioned and the food and wine receive positive reviews.

Bad Guys in the Badlands Mar 06 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The talk in some of the merchant dives of Akko is that another merchant caravan making its way down the dusty High Road between Leon and the City through the lawless badlands in between has been attacked and burned by a surprisingly well organised group of bandits. The Watch-Warden 'Stumbling Mike' brought a cart of half a dozen rescued caravaneers back into the city past the Roadward tower, destitue but alive, the ragged figures praising the names of Zakaria and Idonea who risked their lives to save them from the 'Demon Bandits'. According to the tale told by Stumbling Mike in his cups, the Bare Baronesa Momoko was also involved, although she spent a fair amount of time shooting up a building with her laser horse. Most of the listeners believe that part to be a result of Mike's desperate need for a dust-clearing pint or twelve.

An old craze has once again reared its head on Yathrib, the Questing Knight Trading Cards that were always just a bit rare on this planet. But suddenly, it isn't the case. Decks of the cards have been appearing all over the city. Distributed by Charioteers and other Guilders recently arrived from offworld. Further, the children of the nobility have been receiving the more fancy, Holographic cards as well. Why this sudden influx? No one can say, but they all look to be newly minted, and someone did not spare any expense in the deliveries. Perhaps a message?

At perhaps the same time, Swords tried to convey Sir Zakaria to the Keep, but he would have none of it; there was a flash of blades, some salty language, and a Sword of Lextius bleeding from a cut across his face as Sir Zakaria made his escape.

There have been whispers in Akko about Lady Lysandra's unusual and reclusive young ward, each more wild than the next. An illegitimate daughter, a cousin from Byzantium Secundus, a godless heathen, a would-be saint. No one's quite sure what the story is. What they whisper now, though, is that the girl was hustled out late one recent evening. Various groups departed from Sepulchre House to Meekham, the front, Port St. Claude, and the Fisher Hall, and the waifish blonde was only glimpsed in passing. The servants, however, seem relieved that the unusual girl is no longer in residence in Akko.

Despite the suddenness of Sir William’s “hospitality”, Lady Samina has been seen quite often in public on the Keep’s grounds since she was wisked away from the Auberge. Impeccably dressed in that eye-catching al-Malik fashion, her voice soars at morning services, and she stays for a brief time afterwards to pleasantly chat with the clergy that perform them. Her lyre can be heard at the formal gardens in the lazy afternoons and early evenings. She is a visible presence around the Keep and Cathedral and so too are the constant heavily armed double Sword of Lextius personal guard to ensure her safety, keeping the contrasting image of vibrant and charming young noble lady flanked by stern and dour Swords in the public eye as well.

Tensions are rising in Akko, and there is an escalating war of graffiti in the streets. Some slogans are quite direct -- Death to William is common, now, in the Copper District and the Arcade - while in other places the jibing is more subtle, with pornographic drawings popping up everywhere showing Amber, Momoko and Chiaka in flagrante delicto. Gangs of urchins from the Arcade District have been throwing eggs at Swords of Lextius, while poor faithful children from the camps have been going around marking the doors of anyone who refuses to profess their support for Sir William and the Church.

More Cards, and an arrival Mar 10 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A second, and a third wave of the cards arrived on world more recently. These? Singles. Singles of many of the knights known to be on world, as well as some of the more famous knights of the order in general such as Sir Malgrim. Yet there is a final one, the third wave, just one card. The card? An auburn haired woman in a deep blue, almost black, bodysuit, a high cowled mantle cloak over her shoulders falling down while a hand is held up, a knife held ready to throw in her hand, half veiling her face. An aura of mystery in a similar way to that of Sir Malgrim's trademark mask. One of the other famous members of the Order. Lady Trisje Miep van Gelder. And shortly after, the rumor is this veteran of the order has been seen setting foot on Yathrib.

Final Score Is Mar 11 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
News circulates about Ghilat. Of course it would. Once the sandstorm cleared out and communications links opened back up the soldiers had plenty to rabble about to themselves, their friends and of course, their comm buddies. And stuff gets twisted a lot lately because people want a good story, not necessarily the truth. This however is the exception, because this story is pretty good on its own.
Of course, at the top of the news? The assassination attempt on Lady Midare, which failed. There are jokes being made about the assassin that failed to assassinate a 16 year old girl, and they are not pretty. However, when it comes to Baroness Midare in the story, she's portrayed as a dashing young lady knight who defends herself with the grace of a swan and the strength of the bull. There's also a rumor that she cut off his head. No one knoes if it is true or not but no one cares because everyone is too busy laughing about the assassin failing to begin with. On the other hand, It made Midare look strong and warrior like and people are commenting on that too.
And last but not least, the Naked Sword Har..I mean, Baroness Momoko. Yes, she's at it again. The self professed batshit insane baroness from Haqq was responsible for defending the town and from all speculations defend she did..in her own..unique way. In a move that would have the hazat founders rolling in their grave, she apparently opened the gates...Yes..She opened the gates during a siege. One would think this bad. It probably would be to a normal person..but, let us not forget that this baroness is so far from normal that she registers as her own pole of attraction on the earth. Yes, she held the town while the gates were open. How? Rumor is that she put bombs there. Then the other rumor is that she simply piled up her dead to create a wall. The one you hear the most is that she made a wall of kurgans with heavy repeating legions. This one sticks because it's an image everyone likes. Then she apparently screamed at troops on the wall. Yes, instead of fighting, she screamed and somehow, this worked. This woman has the best luck of any person in the world. But the best out of all the rumors about the town battle is that the baroness is now a demon. From soldiers mouths to peasant ears, she is being called a demon for her weird, crazy and, well, insane, show during the battle. She walked through a fire instead of going around it. Yes, you heard me. Through a fire. Why? Well I would answer that, but, let's be honest, Momoko isn't a good..Wait, it's a perfect answer. The answer is Momoko.

        Final Score:
        Kurgans: 0
        Loli and Batshit: 1

The Walls of Ghilat Mar 11 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are other rumors that come from distant Ghilat as well. They are the rumors of the dead and dying within the walls of the city, both Kurgan and city defenders, and rumors of a quarter of the city set ablaze. They are rumors of terrified peasants still trapped in their city. The sandstorm assault failed; despite whatever favor the Kurgans thought was bestowed upon them by their false god and his false prophets soldiers who cannot see their enemies through the storm cannot conquer a city. And though the faithful hold fast and the banner of the Lady Midare Li Halan still flies over the castle and walls, there was more desperation in the battle then any would care to admit.
The Madwoman of Haqq is said to have run through fire with her men to retake the western wall after it fell. The Li Halan speak of a blood drenched noblewoman, her armor streaked in soot and ash, striking down Kurgans as she and her personal guard marched up to the battlements to throw off the attackers with her bare hands. They say she was seized by a bloodlust and that no fury burned hotter than the fire in her eyes that day. Others say no madness was more wild than that which took hold of the Lady Momoko. But all say that the city is safe thanks to her and her men.
Men also speak of the Kurgan, and how there is no depravity too low for them. Details are sparse, rumors wild and contradictory, but the rough outline is agreed upon: on the eve of the battle, as the Lady Midare girded herself to defend the city, Kurgan assassins infiltrated her private council chambers. Slaying two guards with poisoned blades, the Kurgans set upon the Lady of Ghilat and her loyal man, Righteous Chen. The Lady was poisoned, but when the guards found her she had slain all of the assassins with her own katana.
Righteous Chen, the lady's right hand man for much of the siege, was grievously wounded during the fight, a dirk plunged into the soft flesh between his throat and shoulder. Li Halan medics say that the man is still gravely ill but may yet recover. Those closest to the baronet have said that, thanks to his wound, when the proud and dour Li Halan lord speaks his voice is but a raspy whisper.
Ghilat stands, but it has paid in blood for that privilege.

Piratical Shenanigans Mar 11 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the rescue of a certain pirate, and several slaves, word has it they have returned to Akko and commenced to 'party it up'. These words (And not just bird) are verified by accounts of a very happy pirate and several others periodically partying it up and bothering the populace. One old farmer was even reported to have brought out his shakin' rake. They seem to simmer down after awhile, but there's no denying the presence of a noisy pirate and friends.

It seems a final rumor, after the desperate battle of Ghilat, has managed to make it to Akko. Just as the battle was beginning, three Kurgan heads-- cleanly sliced as from a wicked sword-- were catapulted into the Kurgan army. They didn't do much damage, but the message seems clear.

War Prep Mar 13 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While it is easy enough to see that preparations to defend against the pending Kurgan invasion in the North were delayed by the passing of the great storm, it would seem that Newbridge at least has not been slow in restarting them now the storm has passed eastwards. Word is out that the Armsmen have now finished mustering and are stationing themselves at the key, strategic points while the Baron himself has been taking time to visit the Cripple Keep which lies within his lands. With no Castellion yet appointed and war so very close it would seem that he's talking directly to the Muster company stationed there rather than risk a costly misunderstanding should the fighting reach the river.

More tales from the Keep Mar 13 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More tales of the captive al-Malik emerge from the Keep servants’ wagging tongues; Lady Samina’s sweet and gracious ways are earning her many small kindnesses and some degree of popularity from the staff. The priest who gives the morning prayer service seems to look forward to her arrival. Even some of her guards seem to be giving her some deference, standing back a little so as to give some audible privacy to her and the visitors she’s had now and then. Despite the discomfort around the visual reminders that her ‘guest’ status is enforced, more and more wanderers have been turning up in the garden to hear her sing, and sing the Songbird has, running through a stunning variety of ballads from many worlds. A King’s daughter turning the tables and drowning the murderous knight who seeks to slay her. A hawk soaring on the heights, untouchable and free. The phoenix triumphing over the sword. And a dragon rising from the sea, at dawn’s first light.

War is in the air... Mar 16 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Civil war is in the air in Akko and indeed on Yathrib. With Grand Duke Maximino's pronouncement - and similarly the moves to take Countess Nadira Nour's kin hostage - the tension that has defined the Shining Gulf is spreading to the Antipodes as well, with the always-unpleasant borders between Hydessos and Fallingfire getting more and more military. In Akko, with broad parts of the city not under Sir William's control, there is the impending sense that he may order the Regiment of the Exodus out to forcefully exert control on the city, backed up by crusaders - but then Leon has kept the bulk of its army on the Cote, not far away, and even Countess Amber's soldiers in Margat could pivot north to Akko swiftly enough.

Midare here, there, everywhere? Mar 16 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumour has it that Baroness Jopha, Midare Li Halan, has been taken to Akko to see physicians who could not be spared away from the capital even for so illustrious a patient. Other rumours suggest, however, that she is still at Ghilat where she's pelting the enemy with decapitated Kurgan heads. As to the former, people suggest the poisoning attempt on her may have been more successful than first reported, while those who wish her heroism to have less of a tone of tragedy still assert the pelting with heads rumor to be the correct one.

Late Return and New Arrival Mar 16 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two groups of calvarymen, composed of armsmen of Remle and Twisted Spire, and rumored to be accompanied by Lord-General Caelwyn himself, left the siege camp at Zatan after Sister Naima was hours overdue from reporting in. Half the group returned with the wayward Amalthean and a bonus Eskatonic sister, it is rumored--though the Eskatonic priestess was whisked away to a secured private tent near the healer's pavilion, reportedly to recover from sun exposure, exhaustion, and dehydration.

Since then, the normally gregarious Amalthean has kept to herself, dividing her time between watching over the recuperating priestess, or staying within her own tent in the Remle encampment. There are whispers of some sort of new massacre that was found along the road, Kurgan children, women, and unarmed men having been left to rot like animals slaughtered for sport, now being buried by volunteers from the siege camp.

After the Reeve consul Rose Madani was seen meeting with a number of other Reeve magistrates, a party of Swords of Lextius broke down the door of her house bearing a treason warrant for her arrest. They did not expect, perhaps, resistance - Muster sentries put up a fierce fight, killing a Sword of Lextius as well as several of their armsmen and providing an opportunity for Rose to escape in the chaos. Now, the Madani estate is on the block, ready to be given over to the refugees just as are the businesses of many other attainted guilders.

Sir Liam and his Little Cock Mar 17 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This catchy tune, about a greedy, oafish knight and his bantam rooster companion (that seems to have better sense) that seem to be heading for a disasterous (if humorous) ending starts making the rounds of Akko. Even those in the low quarters might sing it, especially after they've been in their cups awhile. Rumor is that it's even been hummed without thinking in the Keep itself (who doesn't love a jaunty, funny melody when sweeping up?) and that it may have first been heard in the gardens there.

Whatever its source, it seems to be spreading like wildfire. Even if it's sung with a slightly lowered voice and an uncomfortable chuckle.

Word spreads that the resistance put up by the Muster sentries at the home of Reeve Consul Rose Madani to the middle-of-the-night intrusion by Knights of Lextius took the form of exploding grenades and machine-gun fire. It sounded like a battle zone in West Goat for a brief period, what with the ka-boom of the grenades, repetitive rat-a-tat-tat of the weaponry, the breaking glass and shattering of furniture, the shouting from both sides. The Reeve's highly-valued collections team is rumored to have made good their escape along with their employer.

Spark of Defiance Mar 19 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joscelin de Moley marched into St. Godfrey's Keep this morning, dressed from head to toe in the regalia of a Questing Knight -- full of the Emperor's authority and blessing. He went to the great hall, where Sir William was looking over war plans, and then he made a public statement:

"Sir William," the Questing Knight said. "You are a tyrant. You are trying to steal this world, to cast aside the brave men and brave women who have ruled for generations. You wish to cast aside the Emperor's rule. You wish to set up yourself as a Theocrat. You wish to demand men kneel to the Pancreator not from faith but from fear. You wish to upend society -- you think that out of chaos, you might be Abbot of Misrule, and there cement a throne not of good governance but of craven power. You are a cad, a liar, a thief in the night -- a man afraid to stand up and be counted, who silences those who oppose him."

Somewhere mid-way in the speech the arrest order was given; Swords of Lextius began to close. Sir Jonas Welk, the Constable's bully-boy, leads them.

"Tyrant, I name you -- you worship pride, not the divine, and..." Joscelin looks around. "Tell your men to step back. I am a Questing Knight, and none but my Company can try me."

The Swords, it seems, do not listen to such things, because as Sir William turns away they approach. Blades are drawn in a circle, and Sir Jonas steps within. There is clash, sword on sword, and the fight on. At first, Sir Joscelin is full of fire and glory - he presses the attack, wounding Sir Jonas across the face, and then forces the Sword up one of the gallery stairs, only to have wood crumble underneath Joscelin's foot. Sir Jonas strikes back, then, hitting Joscelin once, twice, three times, backing him towards the circle of high chairs in the center of the hall. The Questing Knight tries to use them as cover, but Sir Jonas is relentless, and then - as Joscelin runs out of escapes - Sir Jonas motions his fellows to close. "Flats of blades!" he cries - a small mercy, because even a Questing Knight cannot survive eight on one.

The Chevaliers of Leon, already in position in Akko, started a fighting withdrawal several minutes before the formal announcement by Count Renaud - and then went to ground. Slipping away from fights and using superior local knowledge to slip away.

Across Leon, men are arming up as a full callup of all troops begins. This matter must be decided, and Leon is no longer willing to fuck around on this. Forced by the execution of a De Moley and violation of the Emperors Law (Though which is more important to Renaud, is debated..), the County of Leon will pull no punches.

Although some grumblings amongst the nobility could be heard, they soon had nothing else to say because of random messages. The most grumbling now is from the Janissaries of the taifa lords.

Althoug there's one place where no grumbling is occurring is within the ranks of the veteran legions that Momoko commands. Them? They're already loading bullets into their chambers. Apparently Momoko thinks she can do noticeable damage with 100 veterans and herself...normally this would probably be debunked, but given history, no one is willing to bet on it.

Knights of Lextius serving Sir William carried out a large lottery in the center of Camp Aleph, drawing huge crowds from around the camp and from more respectable parts of Akko. Properties previously seized from various 'traitors' on the authority of the Lord Constable were raffled off, including the home of the prominent Reeve Rose Madani, several other properties owned by Guilders, and numerous businesses owned by other freemen in the city. Despite the indignity to the original owners, the lottery atmosphere was extremely festive, with the crowds attracting all manner of small time pedllers, entertainers, and touts for other businesses, and as well as those simply curious to watch.
The lottery results brought mixed emotions throughout the crowd. A few lucky refugee families won big, as did a knight who supposedly came into the possession of the valuable Reeve home. Still, even though the lotteries were held for the supposed benefit of the refugee population, the majority of properties are rumored (with some displeasure!) to have gone to the Scravers through various ticketholders and intermediaries. Certainly, their guildmembers were visible in the run up to the lottery, running a brisk trade in goods for lottery chits, chits for cash, and cash for more chits!

Pursued by Sir William's interceptors, they flew for the harbor, where Captain Zakaria's Peerless Talon opened fire on the planes - downing one of the Crusader State's aircraft - as Sir Thomas brought Lady Samina in for a landing. At that point, the Captain made full steam for the gulf, even as the Akko navy began to set sail to pursue.

Right before the Chancellor's 'clarification' of Sir William's proclamation regarding his intent to execute Joscelin de Moley, a letter bearing the imprint of the Great Seal of the State was borne in ceremonial fashion through the Keep to Lord Geoffrey. The bearer had flown into Fisher Hall, then travelled up to the Mount of Apples while clad in formal heraldic garb.

Whether the contents of the official letter – which the Chancellor's proclamation would suggest was a formal request for a Curia to be summoned to discuss questions of treason – had a role to play in prompting whatever transpired between Sir William and Father Samson can at present only be a matter for speculation.

Either way, another formally-sealed letter was sent up to the Keep soon after word of William's demise spread. Thus far, no deaths are known to have ensued, though its bearer did travel under armed guard through the unsettled city.

Malum in se Mar 23 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Following his return from the ecclesiastical gathering at Saint Palamades', Philosophus Dominic Acco's evening service featured a sermon upon the nature of justice and evil.

He dwelt particularly upon the concept of 'malum in se': deeds which are evil in and of themselves. Warning that actions such as rape, the slaying of innocents (most especially infants), and the persecution of the helpless are sins certain to stain the soul mirrors of those perpetrating them, he urged those in attendance to abhor and condemn such service to the Dark Between the Stars, and to confess as a matter of greatest urgency any sins perpetrated in war – for however just the ends, the means matter, and can wreak great evil. Yet with confession and true repentance, there is hope for the soul: a chance at redemption and defiance of the Dark.

”Amidst these fading suns, with the very light of the Creator dimming throughout the universe, it is incumbent upon us all to fight to our uttermost – to fight against the urgings and whispers and temptations of the Dark. The forces of the Crusade face mortal foes bearing arms, but all existence is imperilled by the fading of the light. If we surrender to the Dark and let it consume our souls, then we lose on the most vital battlefield of all. Every soul mirror that darkens is a victory for the enemies of Creation; every soul that can no longer carry light to others is a triumph for evil. That others among us sin is no excuse for sinning ourselves; that others fail is no reason to surrender our own freedom to choose. Every action we take leaves its mark on our soul – and every soul is needed in the struggle against the Dark.”

The Crow's Call Mar 23 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is said that in the aftermath of Sir William Hawkwood's death, Sir (or Lord) Julien of Crow's Landing has been actively recruiting Crusaders that pledged under the now-deceased Constable to take up arms in his name, promising, among other things, the lands made vacant by the demise of the al-Gesar and the empty baronetcies in the fief. Roof, food and possibly land for their services certainly might be an interesting attractive to those who are now thrown into uncertainty.

All is not quiet Mar 23 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the death of William, many might have hoped that the troubles in Akko might be over the worst. While the upper echilons of societ might have already switched to talking about who should be the next Lord Constable, it seems that others, on both sides, are less keen to forgive and forget quite so quickly.

In the camps and other areas where the 'faithful' are stong there are mutterings spreading. No one wants to be heard to say it openly, but words like 'murder', 'godless nobility' and 'chosen of the Patriarch' are starting to spread like wildfire, filling many a hushed conversation in homes and inns.
Of course these mutterings are hardly helped by a spate of violence against those who benefitted from the recent Lottery. Slogans have gone up on walls proclaiming them thieves, usurpers and worse. A couple of the properties, among those not won by Scravers or Questing Knights, have even had cheap and dirty firebombs (in the form of molatov cocktails) thrown through their windows.

William might be gone, but his legacy of division contines apace.

Clerical Meeting Mar 23 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many clergy of Yathrib gathered for a convocation at St. Palamedes the Redeemer at the behest and under the protection of Father-Abbot Agravain van Gelder. Apparently the discussion became heated at times, with some members of the Brother Battle supporting the position that even the execution of Kurgan civilians was in furtherance of the Crusade and the Pancreator's plan. The Amaltheans and Eskatonics present argued for a more compassionate position, and it is said that at least one Eskatonic said she had been treated well by the Kurgans while a captive - and cried tears of blood for them!

While the outcome of the meeting isn't entirely clear, many clergy left with a new sense of duty to prevent a schism between various factions of the church, especially between on-world and crusading clergy. Whether their consensus on the Pancreator's will changes anything is yet to be known.

Prior Benedict of Malefaux -- the prior of St. Malcolm's at Prior's Ford - is dead. He was leading a patrol of brothers along the river when he was caught in an ambuscade arranged by the Kurgans; by reports, he was specifically targeted, with snipers armed with sunder slugs focusing fire on Prior Benedict. His retinue tried to drag him away from the zone of fire, but a second Kurgan squad was waiting at their fallback position and the Prior could not survive the second assault.

The Lion Tower normalizes Mar 23 2013 Anonymous

After weeks of near silence and being almost completely empty, the Lion Tower of Akko once again buzzes with activity. Part of the Leonese effort to present William with no purchase to pry into and call treason, the tower was evacuated subtly and slowly as William's program of tyranny built to a level that the Count could find cause to stand upon. Some might call it cowardice, but others might call it sound strategy.

The Chancery is returning to its prior levels of activity. With the Swords of Lextius no longer in possession and its full staff back in place, visitors from Fisher Hall are increasingly in evidence. For the second time in a season, however, it seems that the Chancellor's first priority is simply finding out how many problems she is inheriting. Certainly, the Chancery is said to be rather short on ready cash, as a result of recent events and the Reeves' embargo.

Messed Up Muster Mar 23 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A rickety, bullet hole-ridden truck rolled into Akko this evening, which reportedly broke down on the side of the road nearby the gates. Carrying it was a fivesome of Muster, who had apparently seen better days. Arms and armors looked like they were in shambles, with just barely enough fuel to get them to Akko. None of them were really in the mood to talk, including their heavily bandaged and scarred leader, Sergeant John Solomon. No one knows where they were or what they were doing all this time, but whatever it was, seems they survived by the skin of their teeth. But from the look of them, hard to say if any of them really 'came back'.

Since the assassination of Sir William, his confessor and confessed murder, Father Samson, has been in the custody of Abbot Agravain van Gelder of the Inquisition. Between meeting with the Guardian and keeping the Exodus Regiment and Swords of Lextius on their best behavior, Abbot Agravain has been putting the good Father to the question - one imagines it has been a very cordial conversation, held in a plush Church office, over khav and cookies, and filled with reaching theological discussion. Rumors among Church armsmen indicate that whatever Abbot Agravain learned in the first few days of questioning, it has galvanized him to continue to investigate, and the Inquisitor is more determined than ever to get to the bottom of Father Samson's crime.

An Escort of Mercy Mar 24 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shortly after the Kurgans finished their morning prayers the east gate of Zatan opened briefly to allow a procession of children lead by a single woman. As the strange column broke away from the protective guns of the walls a full company of Leon's light horse rode forward to greet them. Some words appeared to have been exchanged between the Kurgan woman and the company commander, and then the soldiers of Leon began to escort the Kurgan children through the camp surrounding Zatan.
Over a hundred young girls, all under the age of 10, walked in between the cavalry of Leon, most with their eyes cast down in fear, others openly crying. A few of the younger ones occasionally cast furtive glances up to the crusaders and soldiers around them, not fully aware of what was going on. Some carried babes in their arms: children awkwardly holding their baby siblings. Others clung to each other with white knuckles, trembling as they walked among the armed camp.
At first the men and women of the camp didn't know what to make of the escort and most initially stared as Leon's soldiers cleared a path through to the roads beyond. Some crusaders jeered and mocked the children, promising that they would never see their parents again. Others, many soldiers and armsmen of Yathrib who have families of their own back in the towns and villages across Yathrib, saluted the men of Leon as they passed. Moving at the pace of a child's march the column left the camps towards the east and the desert beyond, all the while guarded by the De Moley forces.
The spectacle has caused more than a little discussion among the soldiers of the siege. Where Leon is taking those children is an open question among the camps, as well as curiosity as to how long Leon's soldiers will be gone. Many question how useful it was to save a mere 100 children from the coming conquest of Zatan. Among the more martial minded, however, the morality is less relevant than the tactical importance: the gesture by the Kurgans demonstrates how close the resolve of the Kurgans in Zatan is to breaking.

Of course, wagging tongues often exaggerate, so who knows what to believe of the tales of what happened? Sword swinging golems! Laser-eyed statues! Mummified mummies! Fair women tumbling down cliffs! Casting (torch)light at the darkness! All for the benefit of retrieving some item of great value for Lord...Calvin? Wonder if that’s got anything to do with the appearance of some archaic Li Halan weapons that have popped up in the market for those with the right connections.

A Crisis of Housing Mar 25 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sir William appropriated the property of several hundred merchants, and now that he is dead they are trying to reclaim their businesses and homes -- to be only so successful. At least a third of those properties have been occupied by refugee families, who are either trying to make a living themselves or are just selling off the possessions of the merchants. One Engineer starship repair facility, for instance, has had a fire sale as refugees price high-tech equipment to move. Worse still is the houses -- there's been violence in a few cases as merchant families have tried to send guards in to clear out their former homes, and in most situations the local watch has done nothing while that happens. One particularly brutal incident left a refugee infant dead, which has given a new disquiet to the camps, where more refugees have deeds to properties they intend to claim. The Brother Battle have stepped in to try to keep the merchants and the refugees apart, but this is just going to get uglier.

Baron Alivere Mar 25 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new baron has been chosen as lord of Alivere by right of conquest. Baron Hendrick Torenson, with the support of several other crusader captains, has been acknowledged as the rightful liege of the shattered town of Alivere in Oultrejoyeaux. The man has yet to make his formal oath of fealty to any count, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the man will swear to the man who marched and fought with him, the Count Antonio of Joyeaux.
His election has seen his opponents vacating the town with the spoils of Alivere, taken in the majority of the wealth of the population there. Only a few companies of crusaders remain to guard the walls now, but already 'Baron Hendrick' is preparing for a counter-stroke from Kurgans as best he can- the townsfolk unwilling to help have been pressed into little more than chain-gangs to help rebuild the walls, and those few farms surrounding Alivere that were either abandoned or missed by the Crusader Army as they marched in are now being looted for supplies to stock in case of a siege.

Desperate times call for... Mar 26 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumor spreads after the first shock of the news from Ghilat has hit, that Baroness Midare herself rode from the castle to stand before the soldiers of Haqq, and make a plea. And though the beautiful young lady was both eloquent and vulnerable, her words failed to move the soldiers as they prepared to follow Momoko home.
Before she began to give orders for the desperate flight to the castle, Midare had one last thing to do. She called up Ghilat's town crier-- a young boy with enormous lungs-- to stand upon a pillar by the gate. As the Haqq force left, the very loud voice of an innocent child spoke these words.

"You go not with the bittersweet taste of defeat in your hearts, but with the stinging rebuke of women abandoned.
In days to come when you embrace your wives and children, may the faces of the people you came to know here haunt you.
When the prayers of your smallest go unanswered, when the Pancreator turns a deaf ear to his pleas, carry these words with you so he will understand for whose sins he pays. Let these words echo continuously in your heart so that you will not forget--
we will meet again."

Just before the news of Ghilat reaches throughout the city there is a terrible sound from the Amalthean Mission, that echoes throughout the large wards and the catwalks above. A young woman’s voice, breaking in agony as she screams as if she holds the suffering of hundreds of people slaughtered, mothers watching their children slain, fathers watching their daughters savaged until they wished for death, betrayal and hatred and utter despair.

And then there are troubled whispers of the other sisters, who say the source was one of their own, a half-Kurgan sister found weeping inconsolably in Sir Joscelin’s arms before she was taken away, her body bent in pain though no injury could be found...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With all indications being that war is about to be joined with a vengence in the North, Martin De Moley has departed Akko once more to meet with his military advisers and ensure that all is ready. The increase in Kurgan raiding and the death of Prior Benedict seem to lead to a rethink in strategy as a second company marches north west, following the same route as one sent previously to aid in the defense of Arsuf. Similarly there are also troops marching north, close to and along the border with Feisal with the stated intent of holding the north of the Baroney from any push by the Kurgans to the east.
It would appear that the Baron is not expecting everything to be doom and gloom though as this morning, his heavy cavalry was seen leaving their usual quarters and riding hard for the road south. Word of their desination? Leon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A betrayal, a long siege, a poisoning and assasination attempt, and another betrayal to wrap it up. One might say the young baroness Midare has been learning things the hard way since arriving on Yathrib to take over the Li Halan holdings from her deceased uncle. She was never seen at parties or social events, has not mingled much at all.

So after Ghilat's betrayal and loss, it should come as no surprise that the young lady is said to be in Akko again. Perhaps she's there to unwind or decompress. Perhaps she's afraid with the screams of women being raped in front of their children just outside her castle walls. Can anyone really blame her for leaving Ghilat?

Word has it, though, that she's in Akko for but a blink. Then, back to Ghilat. There's so much to finish, word has it. So much to finish...

Today the armies of Newbridge have arrived and there is something electric in the air as the men and women on the front lines sense the impending battle.
In Sidon a company of Lord Martin De Moley's soldiers joined the forces of Lord Karl Justinian at a great banquet table inside the castle where wine flowed and boasts of impending victory were made. The mood was festive and celebratory and the only regret expressed was that, as guards of Sidon, they would not be able to carve through the Kurgan forces in the field and bring back the golden treasures of the barbarian when Ideros and Kerak are sacked.
The mood in Arsuf was in comparison much more muted. It is a barony that has been preparing for the hammer stroke of Kurgan aggression to fall for some time and it shows. Rings of trenches have been excavated around the encampment and artillery points have been marked out in all directions. Patrols sweep the crags, hunting for Kurgan advance scouts while low-flying gunships roar overhead. The stench of latrines, of gun oil, and sweat is in the air at all times. Men practice at arms and drill in firing lines at all hours, filling the camp with the constant noise of shouting and metal clanging.
Unlike their counterparts in Sidon castle the soldiers of Newbridge arriving in the camps at Arsuf are greeted with the solemn nods rather than shouts of camaraderie. Unlike the lucky men who marched to Sidon, their officers are not given feather beds. Instead they, like the Crusader companies, like the soldiers of Sidon and the Knights of the Axe and Fist, sleep on the hard, rocky ground in simple tents. They feast on whatever can be foraged from the increasingly depleted surrounding area and subsist on the supply wagons that arrive regularly from Sidon and from the lands farther south in Auberry and Newbridge.
The army at Arsuf is restless and the Kurgan horde grows closer, their scouts more numerous. Both sides are prepared and ready for conflict. Soon they will clash, and yet another front of the Crusade will explode into open warfare.

Touch and Go Mar 27 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems earlier today, the Leonese Airforce withdrew from Johburg and made haste for Leon's skyport. A squadron of interceptors and a squadron of long range bombers touched down for bare moments - to be refueled and rearmed, before taking back to the air and making all speed to the north, banking over Saba and Haqq.

Guild Embargo grows Mar 27 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It has been three days since the last shipment of fresh food has arrived at Saint Godfrey’s keep, and the Muster Strike continues strong as laborers remain absent from jobs and contracts of the Crusader State. Furthermore, the labor boycott is growing steam, grocers in the markets are refusing business, a notable armor smith has closed it’s doors to the Crusader State, and today, shipments of goods have failed to arrive at the estates of the lords of the Seven Seigneuries, an indication that the guild blackout is spreading.

An Ugly Mood Mar 27 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As word of the Chancellor's announcement that the refugees are going to be stripped of their property spreads, the mood in the camps - and elsewhere - is growing dark. The Muster try hard to keep weapons out of the refugee camps -- possession of a sword is death, and even long knives earn a flogging -- but they come in regardless, and with dozens of refugee families occupying merchants' homes they have begun to lay in stores for tiny sieges. In contrast, the merchants are hiring more market guards, waiting and watching for the Brother Battle to stand aside so they can enforce Amber's decree.

It looks like the mobilization in Leon is proceeding well, with the first units completely stood up engaging in amphibious training in Jaffrey Hall. A great deal of attention is paid to training in how to come off landing craft and engage beach-side defenders. Maybe the Lion will be striking across the gulf in force?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Word filters back from Ydessa that Father-Abbot Agravain van Gelder and an Eskatonic priest arrived at a small country priory to investigate the mysterious death of one of the monks there, a Father Garrett. The priory has apparently been sealed at the Inquisitor's order. While there is no official word from the Church, rumors of foul deeds at the Priory grave enough to attract the attention of the Holy Office - ranging from antinomy to Sathraism to orgies of selchakah and sex - run rampant.

Lack of Scraver Announcement Mar 28 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no Scraver announcement, of embargo or otherwise. But anyone who bothers to pay even the slightest attention will be sure to notice that they are still going about their usual business of buying, selling, 'acquiring' and trading- to the Curia, to the local populace, to anyone who has firebirds to pay or goods to trade. It might even seem like they're rushing to grab up market share where others are voluntarily absenting themself from daily commerce.

Spooky Boutique Mar 28 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A gathering of noblewomen from Akko met up at Madame Jacquard's boutique which is nestled and tucked away off the main strip of shops. They were treated to exquisite displays of fashion mastery and indulged heavily in food and drink. Some of the servants whispered and giggled that the noblewomen were so decadent in their feasting that they all started to doze off. It was Lady Sofia's scream that startled everyone from their reverie. Then an unexpected arrival showed up - Lord Sergei Slava Decados. The sight of the man made more than a few of the guests uneasy. It was Lady Olivia who flung herself at him and called him brother. It appears Lord Sergei is in town for the wedding. But the question on everyone's mind is 'Who exactly is this Sergei? And why does he strike fear (and arousal) in the hearts of these women?'

Not a happy Mantis Mar 29 2013 Anonymous

News does travel quickly back to the Palais Maleband that the mistress of the house is NOT happy. She storms home (whenever that is) and immediately goes through all the chambers - the first one she hits is The Baron of Newbridge. The woman is skilled in ripping pillows and sheets and throwing vases. Oh my! What the hell has ruffled her feathers? The servants chitter about that they best leave their lady alone should they want to keep their head.

Word spreads after the betrayal of Martin, that Kaedin Darazin looked like he could crush steel with the anger in his eyes alone. The armory in Lion Tower was cleared and while those outside heard steel against the wood of many practice manicans, thew scene when the Duelist left the Armory was truly eerie. Both of his Practice Rapiers were buried into a Manican, right where their eyes should be, with enough cuts in stragegic places for someone to die a very slow death.

The Knights of the Bridge? Mar 29 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently, Martin the Deceiver sent a company of knights to Leon to assist Renaud with some matters he was looking into. It seems Martin used that opportunity to strip out of his army those loyal to the Emperor. Under the command of the Lord of Bridge and Town, Renaud has given them succor after assuring himself of their loyalty. Enraged and furious, the knights seem to want nothing more than to return to the Craglands and 'speak' with their former liege lord.

Leon with it's pants down? Mar 30 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's possible! With the flagship of the Leon Navy and most of it's air cover down in JOhburg defending allies, Leon's vassals and allies have perhaps half the number of ships of the raiders.

But maybe not... The recent call up of the fresh troops, the whole undeployed Army of Leon, is something to consider. A whole army looking for a fight, ready and waiting. It would be a costly, costly landing for Tyche.

The ships of Leon are ordered back to port and reserves are tapped for activity. All along the coast, the watchtower fires light. Leon will not be unaware.

Some Say Otherwise: Mar 30 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately, it is not the case that 'all' meet Lord Geoffrey's sentiment with enthusiasm.

Akko is the prime destination for offworld crusaders, nearly ten thousand all told, quite a few of whom never realized that the de Moley name existed as anything more than a mostly barren ball of rock with a monastery on it until they stepped off their ships on Yathrib. Surely, the opinion among them is mixed allong a whole spectrum, but many hold little love for the local lords, and less so with each new tale of their failings and corruption.

More notably, a sizable portion, the most belligerent of their number, near two thousand men in strength, begin gathering arms. Their captains can be seen visiting Joyeaux manor, and there can be no doubt as to the allegiance of these men. The only doubt is whether they will aim their righteous fury immediately North, or if it might be turned upon the Lord Guardian directly.

Orders are going out to Mossford and Bright Fields, to Ashtonbury and Caliburn's Rest -- riders to St. Malcolmsbury, the Promiselands and even the few families at Ancient Stone -- for armsmen to set aside their plows and take up swords and rifles. The Guardian has called for the armsmen of Akko to muster, for civil war seems to threaten.

A return to Akko Mar 30 2013 Anonymous
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A flitter rose out of Akko early in the day headed for Josselin, stopping there before moving north over Newbridge, and points farther. Later the flitter returned to Josselin for a brief stopover before returning once more to Akko. And as it spilled its contents, it revealed Baroness Katerine De Moley, a single guardsman and a bedraggled, tired looking, very blood-spattered Amalthean sister, Odette, who was last believed to be in Sidon. What bargain had been struck for the sister's freedom is anyone's guess, however.
